With a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale, another earthquake hit in the morning the Island of Hispaniola. It was the second earthquake in Haiti in 8 days after the January 12th earthquake which destroyed a lot of building in Haiti and killed about 200,000 people. It originally was recorded as 61 in magnitude but the US Geological survey has downgraded it. The said earthquake struck at island at around 6:03 am local time, and were centered at 18.385°N, 72.870°W at a depth of 6.2 miles (10 km). It was situated at 35 miles west-southwest of Port-au-Prince. Though this was considered an aftershock, there were no damages or casualties based from the latest news and reports.

January 21st, 2010Texas was touched by the tornado resulting to the issued tornado warning by the National Weather Service for Santa Clara, San Jose, the entire Bay Area and Morgan Hill. At around 2:00 pm, the National Weather Service noted strong thunderstorm that could possible created a tornado moving at 35 mph northeast. Luckily, the tornado warning appeared to be end as a warning only for some areas only experience high winds, while others experienced worse weather. More rain and great flooding is expected to happen in Long Beach. Though no tornado, the residents are advise about seeking shelter in a room, closet or basement, or the lowest level in the building and must move away from windows at all times in cases of tornado incidents.

Earthquake shakes San Francisco Bay Area
January 8th, 2010A “medium-sized” earthquake shook San Francisco Bay Area last Thursday, 10:09 AM with a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale as affirmed by the U.S. Geological Survey. It originated 11 miles northeast of San Jose, and 6 miles from Milpitas. Fortunately, with the magnitude of the earthquake, there was no information of any damages or injuries though reports of the said earthquake rapidly spread throughout the area.
