The DaVinci Code actress Audrey Tautou is thinking about giving up on acting. She recently told the French website La Cinema: “I have always thought that I’d stop acting by the age of 40 years, then it was 30. Maybe I will do something more private and discreet with my life.” Audrey became a major star in France after her smash hit film The Fabulous Destiny of Amelie Poulain (or Amelie as it’s known in the rest of the world. Now she is even more famous internationally because of The DaVinci Code. All the attention might be getting a little too intense for the shy actress. “I will take a year off and if I realize afterwards that acting is not what I want to do, I will do something else,” says Tautou. It would be a sad day if Tautou decides to give up acting. But isn’t it interesting to hear these words coming out of an actress’ mouth. I don’t think you would ever hear a Hollywood starlet talking about retiring at the age of 27.

We have been huge fans of French cutie Audrey Tautou since we first saw her in Amelie. Now, apparently all of the United States is finally discovering her as they rush to see The Da Vinci Code. I’ll admit, I haven’t seen it yet and I don’t have a burning desire to do so. But Audrey Tautou… I love her. She’s great in Amelie and maybe even better in the excellent Dirty Pretty Things.
