Transformers Movie: First look at a Transformer

We don’t normally cover movies here, but this is freaking Transformers: The Movie, dude! An anonymous tipster has sent us this first look at one of the Transformers from the movie. Apparently, this is Transformer named Scorpnok. I don’t know much about it, or what it transforms into, but I am guessing it is one of the cockroach aliens from Starship Troopers.

Seriously, this looks so ripped off, that Michael Bay should be writing Paul Verhoeven a paycheck right now.

As much as this movie might suck, I will confess right now that I will probably pay to see it at least three times while it is in theaters.

Iron Man movie coming in 2008

Sure, we love the scantily clad starlets, but we also love SUPER-HEROES. So we are very excited to learn that IRON MAN will be making the jump to the big screen in 2008. The movie will be directed by Jon Favreau (Swingers, Zathura). E Online also hits that at least one Marvel Comics character should be making their way to the big screen for the next few years. Who says the super hero movie trend is over?

Batman last summer. Superman this summer. Spider-Man next summer. And coming in summer 2008: A superhero in a can.

A big-screen, live-action movie about the armor-encased Marvel Comics’ character known as Iron Man will break into theaters on May 2, 2008, Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment announced Friday.

The moves positions Iron Man as the first popcorn picture of summer 2008, as well as the first one with a definitive release date. Other high-profile projects circling the territory include additions to the Chronicles of Narnia and Indiana Jones franchises.

SUPERMAN on the cover of Entertainment Weekly

I know this is geeky and has nothing to do with scantily clad female celebrities, but I cannot freaking wait for SUPERMAN RETURNS. Here’s the cover of the new Entertainment Weekly. Bring this shit on! I will be first in line. I just wish that this movie left out Lex Luthor and had Superman was fighting George Bush and proving that 9/11 was the doing of the U.S. Government. Maybe they can save that for the sequel.

Weekend Box Office >> June 16-18

I really thought NACHO LIBRE was going to open bigger than this. But CARS held on to the top spot for its second week. I am so out of it, the only movie I’ve seen on this list is X-MEN 3… and it sucked. I’ve never even heard of GARFIELD: A TALE OF TWO KITTIES. Give me a break, Hollywood!

Weekend Box-office > Vaughniston slays Mutants

Jennifer Aniston naked ass

Defying ALL predictions, Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn nabbed the #1 slot this weekend with their comedy The Breakup. This is the biggest ever summer opening for a romantic comedy. X-MEN 3 dropped a huge 67%, the biggest ever drop for a Memorial Day weekend opening. This just goes to show you that there are comic book geeks and celebrity gossip geeks. The celebrity gossip geeks turned out this weekend to see a movie that wasn’t well-reviewed and honestly doesn’t look that great. But it’s been the subject of so many tabloid and gossip-site stories that people had to see if the Vaughniston chemistry was for real. Whatever the reason, audiences really turned out for this one.

X-MEN 3 #1 at box-office

I pretty much hated X-MEN 3. But there is one good reason to see it…

Rebecca Romijn in a bikini Pepper Dennis

If you want to discuss how Brett Ratner and 20th Century Fox wrecked the franchise, we have a pretty good discussion going in the forums. But it really doesn’t matter what we think, because the third X-flick raked in over $120 million bucks. Which means the WOLVERINE prequel is probably being fast-tracked along with more X-MEN movies.

Marvel comics movie news

Jessica Alba Fantastic Fourn

Now that X-MEN: THE LAST STAND is breaking all kinds of records, it’s time to start thinking about the other Marvel super-hero movie franchises. Marvel Entertainment head honcho recently talked to Empire Magazine and dropped some cool clues about Spider-man 3, Fantastic Four 2 and Hulk 2 (or more accurately The Incredible Hulk).
Spider-Man 3

“This is definitely a ‘3′ in terms of scale. Movie one was origin, movie two was, ‘I cannot do it anymore,’ and movie three is, ‘I’m powerful, what does that do to me?”

Regarding Venom: “I don’t know about Venom, I know about Topher Grace!….The black suit is a metaphor for Spidey’s mental state. In Spider-Man 2 we wanted him to put the suit back on; here we’ll want him to take it off. He cannot be the Peter we want him to be unless he takes the suit off….”

Fantastic Four 2

“It’s a couple of years later and we get to see what their life is like. What else is there for them to accomplish, what issues are in their lives, where’s Doom?”

Regarding Galactus: “They’ll be some pretty big surprises. What we’re trying to do is not to show him, but to show someone else, initially.” (That means Silver Surfer, bitches!)

Hulk 2 which will be titled: The Incredible Hulk

“It’s still a study in anger. It’s more a love story between Bruce and Betty. It has the feel of The Fugitive, and Bruce is on a mission to get rid of the Hulk. When you see the Abomination, you’ll see something really special.

Rob Zombie to host show for TCM

Rob Zombie to host TCM Underground

Hitch Magazine reports the killer news that Rob Zombie will be hosting a weekly horror showcase called TCM UNDERGROUND.

Zombie will be personally selecting the films to be broadcast. The titles announced thus far include George Romero’s THE CRAZIES, Francis Ford Coppola’s DEMENTIA 13 (produced by Roger Corman), Leonard Castle’s THE HONEYMOON KILLERS, Seijun Suzuki’s TOKYO DRIFTER and Ed Wood’s BRIDE OF THE MONSTER. And because they’re on TCM, that means they’ll be shown uncut, uninterrupted and hopefully in widescreen.

This sounds really cool, especially since there’s not really anything like it on television right now. Rob Zombie’s name should be a big draw for a demographic that doesn’t normally tune in to Turner Classic Movies. Now I just need to get cable!

Ghost Rider trailer

Ghost Rider trailer

The Ghost Rider trailer has hit the web today. Nicolas Cage is Ghost Rider and Eva Mendes is the hot-ass love interest. I saw clips from this at the San Diego Nerd Prom last year and it didn’t leave me overly impressed. Some of the shots in these trailers are a little more polished, but it still looks very cartoony. Check it out tell us what you think in our shiny new forums!

Southland Tales preview clips

I know the U.S. critics are hating Southland Tales, but I am still looking forward to it. French critics seem to love it, hailing it as the best movie at Cannes. I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. In case you forgot, Southland Tales is the sophomore feature from Donnie Darko director Richard Kelly. It also features Sarah Michelle Gellar as a porn star which we already told you about.
